Artist Statement

for my vector portrait i chose my boyfriend as my subject because he sent me a picture that morning and i thought it would be kinda funny to do him since the last portrait i did was a celebrity. My favorite thing about this picture is the way i did the skin on his face and neck. i really like realistic art and struggled with having just one stagnant color for the skin so i used three colors that are close, but varying shades so that there was more depth on his face. for the first part of the background i put a guitar because he is a really good guitar player and we play in the same band so it was a semi significant piece to throw in to the portrait. i chose the color orange because his current favorite guitar is a fender guitar he named "Rudy" that has a sunburst design going from orange to black so i just kind of dumbed it down to keep a somewhat simplistic color scheme feel. The second part of the background i stuck with yellows and greens because my boyfriends favorite colors are "earth colors" as he says and i felt like those colors kind of represented his personality also. overall  i was really happy with the way this turned out and i would say this was my second favorite project in this class.
