My illustrated map is focused on Galena, Illinois. This town has significance to me because its one of my favorite places to visit with my friends and family. Usually we go there at least once or twice a year to either shop around or go Skiing at chestnut.  Getting into the thumbnails on my map, i chose each location based on a significant memory i have in that place with the exception of the desoto house and the dowling house (which are significant landmarks of galena). The three things that i chose from personal significance were Vinny Vanucchis, my favorite restaurant there, Beyond the horizon, my favorite Store there, and Gary's piercing and tattoos because that is where i got my nose pierced for my 17th Birthday. As for the overall design of the map, i decided to go with detailed thumbnails and a very simplistic map background. I love to draw and since this class is a more "computer based" class i jumped at the opportunity to draw instead of make on the computer. i tried to make the images as detailed and intricate as i could stand so that there would be a heavier contrast between the thumbnails and the background. As for the color scheme of the background, i just tried to choose colors that matched the laid back and positive environment that galena so prominently Displays.
